All About Me and Only Me
I love words – small ones, big one, simple ones, complex ones, funny ones, naughty ones. I love the way you can tell a story, create a memory, teach a concept, convey a feeling, and entertain with words. My love affair with words started when I wrote an essay about my family when I was 11. My favorite aunt read it and quickly told me, “Honey girl, you are a writer.” I never forgot those magical words. I write from the heart, with an unfiltered pen, pencil, typewriter, computer keyboard or whatever device I can find to share my chaotic thoughts, memories, concepts, and general musings. People say I’m funny. I don’t mean to be it just comes out that way.
People ask me why I write, that is simple-I write because if I didn’t I would literally go bonkers. People ask me what I write. Everything from essays, blogs, fiction and non-fiction books, Children’s teaching coloring, puzzle books, ghostwriting, op-eds, articles, memoirs, emails, letters (yes, some people still write these antiquated means of communication), notes, journals, the list is endless. Caveat- No, I didn’t write part of the bible although at times I feel old enough to have contributed.
I’m 85, have taught English in several countries and I have more than a quarter century of adventures to share. Wow, that sounds like a long time. My writing is funny sometimes, sarcastic most of the time, sad, happy, reflective, descriptive, informative, healing, enough! Let us just agree no matter what I write it is from the heart and always real, at times too real.
The word ‘rebel’ was created for me and yes, I am the black sheep of my family, however my blue eyes, slightly (yes only slightly)grey hair mixed with blonde, usually give me away.
